Course Aims
- Explore the role of the orthodontic therapist and how it is expanding. Examine how digital orthodontics is changing the way we deliver orthodontic treatment, both in practice and the hospital setting. Understand how these changes will impact future career development.
Course Objectives
At the end of this session delegates should be able to:
- Understand the roles and responsibilities of an orthodontic therapist
- Identify opportunities regarding career progression
- Recognise burnout and how to manage the mental load
- Understand how to manage patient expectations
- Evaluate how digital orthodontics is changing the landscape of orthodontics
- Discuss the limitations of digital orthodontics
Course Learning Content
This course will examine the evolution of orthodontic therapy, how it began and the way in which it has developed over the years. We will discuss digital orthodontics and how it is changing the way we deliver our care. Managing patient expectations is also a key skill for therapists to develop and this course will outline tips and tools for the therapist to utilise.
