Course Aims

  • To equip foundation dentists with the knowledge and skills to practice dental radiography safely and effectively.

Course Objectives

  • Understand radiation regulations and who they protect.
  • Organise and maintain a dental radiography quality assurance (qa) programme.
  • Understand and apply routine positioning techniques used in dental radiography.
  • Apply current guidelines to the quality assessment of dental radiographs.
  • Recognise and correct common image faults in dental radiography.
  • Modify radiographic techniques according to individual patient needs.

Course Learning Content

Dental radiography training for 2 groups of foundation dentists. Includes several lectures (radiation protection, qa etc) and practical teaching on routine radiographic techniques.

Clinical and practical presentation to explain and demonstrate the principles, techniques and applications of clinical photography.

Seeing in Endodontics and Managing Endodontic Failure in Practice

and Karl Ronan from SwordFish Medical Ltd

Aims

  • To introduce magnification devices.
  • To help newly qualified dentists to manage endodontic failure in practice.

Objectives

By the end of the course, delegates should be able to:

  • Understand the benefits of magnification devices in endodontics.
  • Shape and fill simulated root canals with WaveOne Gold and GuttaCore utilising dental loupes.
  • Understand the definition and causes of endodontic failure.
  • Understand the various ways to manage endodontic failure.
  • Decide when to treat, not treat or refer endodontic cases that have failed.

Learning Content

This lecture and hands-on course is intended to encourage newly qualified dentists to utilise magnification devices when carrying out root canal treatment, and to promote safe and effective management of endodontic failure.
