Course Description
Decontamination training for dental nurses
Course Aims
- To provide information at operator level regarding the decontamination cycle and correct work flow relating to reprocessing instruments in an Local Decontamination Unit.
Course Objectives
- Define the purpose and requirements of HTM01-05 / Pel 13 13
- Identify the importance of dental decontamination in the prevention of infection
- Determine the principles regarding local decontamination facilities
- Detail the decontamination cycle and correct application of the processes within the life cycle
- Prepare reusable devices for cleaning
- Safely use, maintain and test washer disinfectors and sterilisers
- Awareness of record keeping requirements
Course Learning Content
This training session is intended to create an understanding of the decontamination process within dental practice to reduce potential risk factors to both patients and the dental team.
