Course Description

This focused CPD session equips general dental practitioners with essential knowledge for managing medically complex patients in the primary care setting. With particular emphasis on the latest guidance surrounding Medication-Related Osteonecrosis of the Jaw (MRONJ), the workshop offers practical insights into current treatment modalities, risk assessment, and clinical decision-making. Participants will leave with enhanced confidence in delivering safe, evidence-based care to patients with complex medical histories.

Course Aims

  • To optimise patient care in the primary setting and thus limiting the need to refer patients unnecessarily to the hospital setting. To understand the pathophysiology of MRONJ. Be able to appropriately manage patients at risk of MRONJ in the primary setting.

Course Objectives

  • To evaluate a patient’s medical history and determine if primary care is an appropriate treatment setting.
  • To identify risk factors for developing MRONJ.
  • Review and promote preventative measures to reduce the incidence of MRONJ.

This two hour workshop aims to equip general dental practicioners with the knowledge and understanding of managing medically complex patients in the primary setting. With the ever changing guidance on MRONJ this will give you up to date knowledge on the latest treatment modalities used.
