Course Description

Course Aims

To provide information pertaining to the current guidance/ legislation, this will assist General Dental Practices in adhering to current standards.

Course Objectives

At the end of this session the delegates should be able to:

-Highlight the 10 standard infection control precautions

-Demonstrate an 8 step hand hygiene technique & outline its importance.

-Select appropriate personal protective equipment & use correctly

-Safe sharps & waste disposal -Clear, clean and disinfect work units

-Outline the work flow within your LDU/designated decontamination area

-State the equipment used in an LDU to render instruments safe to reuse, and complete tests required on all equipment

Course Learning Content

This session is intended to create an understanding of the need to apply infection prevention and control measures including decontamination of dental instruments to reduce potential risk factors to both patients and the dental team.
