Course Description
This session gives an overview of Standard Infection Control Precautions with a focus on safe, effective decontamination processes in dental practice. The course explains the responsibilities of the user, manager, and wider team, and outlines each stage of the decontamination cycle. Delegates will review current guidance on local decontamination and look at practical ways to improve workflow within the LDU.
Course Aims
The aim of this course is to equip learners with up to date knowledge in all areas of infection control within practice and risks based on local legislation.
Course Objectives
At the end of this session delegates should be able to:
1.Explain the differences between bacteria, viruses and prions
2.Recall all aspects of preventing infection in a clinical environment
3.Identify the differences between best practice and essential quality requirements
4.Demonstrate a full and comprehensive understanding of the decontamination process
5.Explain their role and their responsibilities within their role
6.Create and maintain comprehensive validation records
Course Learning Content
Understand the chain of infection and how to minimise, this includes effective hand hygiene processes. Understand what tests are required for ensuring equipment and water lines are maintained correctly.
