Course Description
This induction day is designed to welcome new DCTs into the Northern Ireland training network, providing essential information, resources, and support to ensure a confident start to their hospital-based roles. It offers a valuable opportunity to meet fellow trainees from across different trusts, builds professional connections, and establish a supportive network for the year ahead.
Course Aims
- To introduce Dental Core Trainees (DCTs) to NIMDTA and prepare them for hospital dentistry and the Dental Core Training programme.
Course Objectives
To introduce:
- NIMDTA and the Dental Team – including key contacts and support structures.
- Dental Core Training and the Education Programme – outlining the training year and learning opportunities.
- The DCT Curriculum and E-portfolio (Axia) – understanding competencies and how to record progress.
- Single Lead Employer arrangements – employment structure and HR support.
- NIMDTA’s Professional Support & Wellbeing Unit – resources for personal and professional wellbeing.
- Prescribing Modules – guidance on safe prescribing and access to relevant systems.
- Applied Quality Improvement & Audit in Dentistry – introducing the principles and expectations for audit projects.
