Course Description
A description for the course
Course Aims
To provide qualified dentists with an understanding of dental occlusion and its application in restorative dentistry and occlusal therapy. The course aims to enhance clinicians’ ability to assess occlusion, recognise occlusal risk factors and temporomandibular disorders, and utilise articulators appropriately. Through live demonstrations of facebow transfer and the provision of a Michigan stabilisation splint, participants will develop practical knowledge to improve diagnosis, treatment planning and the delivery of predictable occlusal care.
Course Objectives
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Explain the principles of normal and dysfunctional dental occlusion.
- Perform a comprehensive occlusal examination and interpret clinical findings.
- Select and use articulators and facebow transfer appropriately for restorative procedures.
- Describe and observe the clinical stages of taking a facebow record and mounting casts.
- Identify the indications, design principles and occlusal adjustment requirements of a Michigan stabilisation splint.
