Course Aims

To provide attendees with knowledge of and skills in the management of patients in General Dental Practice based on psychological principles.

Course Objectives

  • A knowledge of approaches to managing anxiety about attending the dentist.
  • A knowledge of the key components of dentist-patient communication.
  • An understanding of the importance of dentist-patient communication in determining patient outcomes.
  • An understanding of techniques for enhancing patient compliance with health related advice.
  • A knowledge of the sources and consequences of stress in dental practice.
  • A knowledge of techniques to manage the experience of stress in dental practice.
  • Undertaken an assessment of their own levels of stress.
  • Devised a personal plan for incorporating this knowledge into their practice.
