Course Aims

The aim of the course is to comply with GDC requirements and provide highly recommended verifiable CPD for the participants. It will cover many of the key points of IR(ME)R18 and IRR17 updating their knowledge of factors relating to quality assurance and dose limitation to patients and staff in dental radiography. For non radiographically qualified DCPs, in relation to IR(ME)R the course will clarify the roles and duties of the dental team. This is a practical approach to IR(ME)R 18 regulations and quality assurance in dental radiography. It will cover many of the key points of radiation protection, quality assurance and dose limitation to patients and staff in dental radiography.

Course Objectives

At the end of this session the delegates should be able to:

• Be More aware of their responsibilities under IRMER18 and IRR17 legislation current at the time, and possible future changes to regulations as they relate to dental practice

• Have an understanding of the different types of digital systems available and how to overcome practical issues when working with them in practice

• Have a better understanding of the requirements needed to maintain a processor which consistently provides high quality images
