Periodontolgy hands-on course

Course Aims

• To enable participants to further develop their skills in the diagnosis and management of periodontitis in general dental practice

Course Objectives

• Diagnosis of periodontal disease using clinical and radiographic examination
• Use current classification of periodontal disease to formulate a diagnosis
• Understand the S3 evidence based treatment guidelines for periodontitis
• Recognise when onward referral is appropriate

Course Learning Content

This course will be provided via lectures and hands on practical sessions

• It is intended to further participants’ understanding of the new classification system for periodontal disease
• It will allow participants to broaden their knowledge of periodontal assessment and evidence based treatment
• The appropriateness of onward referral for specialist treatment will be discussed
