Course Description
This course helps participants build the knowledge and practical skills needed to use composite materials confidently for anterior teeth. The focus is on achieving good aesthetics and reliable function in everyday clinical dentistry.
The session covers how modern composite technology works, how different materials are classified, and what affects their performance. We will look at the role of adhesives and what is needed to use them effectively with current composite systems. The course also shows how clinical techniques should be adapted to improve the predictability and success of anterior composite restorations.
Course Aims
- Familiarisation with current concepts in rubber dam isolation, enamel & dentine bonding and resin bonding agents.
- Familiarisation with contemporary composite resin materials and their handling as well as protocols for matrix selection
- To complete a practical build up of a Class 2 posterior cavity on plastic teeth
Course Objectives
At the end of this session delegates should be able to:
- Demonstrate a greater understanding of the current principles involved in dentine bonding and resin composite systems
- Familiarise themselves with rubber dam placement and using new composite instruments, wedging and matrix systems
- Familiarise themselves with systematic placement, shaping and polishing techniques for Class 2 posterior composite restorations
