Course Description
Course Aims
- A practical hands-on interactive session focusing on
- flap design and suturing techniques commonly used
- in minor oral surgery treatments carried out within
- general dental practice.
Course Objectives
At the end of this session delegates will be able to:
- Demonstrate the principles of flap design
- Demonstrate the principles of suturing
- Identify appropriate surgical instrumentation
Course Learning Content
- Be familiar with the clinical indications of various flap designs and the logic behind different positions of incisions
- Understand the importance of flap design in relation to avoiding complications such as nerve damage, unwanted aesthetic sequelae, appropriate access and tension free closure
- Understand the use of periosteal relieving incisions and flap advancement
- Be familiar with the different sutures materials available
