Course Description
Level 2a:
Level 2a Cone Beam Computed Tomography training provides practical teaching from experts in the field.
Following completion of Level 2a training, attendees will be competent with small field of view CBCT analysis. This will facilitate thorough interpretation of scans and provision of advanced patient care. Enhance your patient services, from dental implant planning to managing orthodontic cases by signing up today. Suitable for dental professionals who have completed BSDMFR accredited Level 1 CBCT.
Course Aims
- This Course aims to train dentists to interpret CBCT scans performed on dento-alveolar regions and to write radiology reports. The curriculum is modified from the Level 2 training criteria published in the latest UK guidelines (Guidance Notes for Dental Practitioners on the Safe Use of X-ray Equipment, 2nd ed., 2020).
Course Objectives
By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:
- At the end of the course, participants should be able to:
- Orientate and manipulate CBCT datasets for various clinical applications
- Demonstrate knowledge of anatomy of the tooth-bearing portions of maxilla and mandible
- Determine the location and orientation of impacted teeth and relationship to ID canal, maxillary sinus and other adjacent structures
- Correlate CBCT scans with conventional 2D radiographs
- Understand artefacts that may occur in CBCT images
- Use radiological terminology to describe abnormalities
- Write CBCT interpretation reports for the dento-alveolar regions
- Describe important diseases including malignancy affecting the dento-alveolar regions
- Identify when to refer cases for a second opinion or over-read
