Course Description
This interactive workshop gives dental professionals the chance to experience the challenges faced by older patients and neurodiverse individuals in a dental setting. Short talks from Nichola Booth and Adele Cunningham will introduce key themes before you take part in an immersive simulation designed to show how the environment can affect these groups.
This course is in collaboration with Ulster and Queens University.
Warnings
- During the session there may be strobing / flashing lights which could potentially trigger seizures in susceptible individuals
- There are Latex balloons
- The Neurodiversity Simulation is designed to be overstimulating so neurodiverse individuals may find it overwhelming.
- We would ask anyone who may be affected by any of the above to contact Amanda Jackson (amanda.jackson@hscni.net) in advance of the session so that we can discuss any reasonable adjustments needed
Course Aims
- This Immersive simulation will explore the experiences of these patient groups in the dental setting.
